With a gleam in his eye that only a limo-socialist can manage, Barack Hussein Obama continued his Eve of Destruction Tour for the White House. In a Chicago speech, Obama treated his cult to another messiah moment on the evils of climate change and managing car companies.
“They’ve (car makers) done a better job of investment than they have in the past. There’s still more work to do, and the federal government should ‘help’ them do it,” said Obama. This statement comes on the heels of California Socialist-Democrat Maxine Waters threatening to nationalize all of the oil companies.
“These days I don’t drive much,” said Obama. “I bought a hybrid, but we keep it in the garage, mostly.”
I suppose just owning a hybrid gives him some sort of moral superiority and the right to chastise the rest of us. You may wonder with a perfectly good “green car” sitting in the garage, how exactly does he get around?
As I recall, Obama seems to spend most of his time traveling around the country on private planes and around cities in gas-guzzling limousines and SUV’s. Strange that he doesn’t seem worried about the evils of climate change or even the cost per gallon of gas while engaged in his own conveniences.
Obama seems a little hypocritical wouldn’t you say? He demands everyone else pledge their soul to the “green lifestyle” while at the same time he lives like a squirrel intent on not only guarding his own nuts, but taking everyone else’s in the process.
Many people have already figured out that climate change is just a code word for making us feel guilty so it will be easier to fleece us for higher taxes. Sadly, too many don’t see the light thanks to the government run public schools, socialist dominated universities and liberal media organizations who have done the job well. They continue to persuade about a “Utopian Society” that waits only if there is greater government control.
We’ve seen how the media likes to give past generations descriptive titles like, “The Greatest Generation.” If events continue unchanged then this generation will deserve no higher than the “Clueless Generation.” Clueless in the fact that they are so willing to give away hard fought freedoms based on words like, “Hope and Change” with no clue of the real definition.
One basic constant of California politics is that the dishonorable Maxine Waters is always good for a laugh. The downside of her comic stupidity is that it’s usually at the people’s expense. Maxine does however have a useful quality found in the depth of her arrogance. She doesn’t mind parroting the not-so-secret intentions of the Democrat Party.
I for one have never known the government to do anything as well as the private sector, but Maxine and her merry band of thieves have their sights set on trying. Soon after they get their tentacles into the oil industry… well let me just say that it will be time to dust off your old bicycle. Under total government control, gas will be virtually unavailable for less than 20 bucks a gallon.
I guess it just goes to show that some people gravitate toward politics only because snooty is all they can do… like Maxine.
John McCain’s nose is growing decidedly greener these days as exhibited in his recent trip to Oregon. Not only did he participate in a passionate drive-by tree hugging, he promised to deal away more US sovereignty and freedom.
McCain pledged as President to play a lead role in negotiations for an agreement to cut emissions to a level the US refused to ratify as called for by the Kyoto Protocol.
“I will not accept the same dead-end of failed diplomacy that claimed Kyoto,” said McCain. “The United States will lead and will lead with a different approach — an approach that speaks to the interests and obligations of every nation.”
As you may recall, one of the main reasons for the Kyoto failure is that the mandates did not apply binding greenhouse gas targets on fast-growing China and India. McCain did not explain or justify his need to hamstring the US with such an agreement, but we can surmise that he has fallen prey to the religion of green and is trying to appease the liberal earth gods.
McCain’s stance on climate change sets him apart from a large chunk of his party’s conservative base, which remains skeptical about the science on climate change. Now Republicans must wonder and ask the question, “Why do a maverick and a green-socialist look so much alike?”
You always hate to see it when people mistake the fantasy world of television with real life. It’s even worse when the people on TV use celebrity to force their personal politics onto the rest of us.
The latest in the long line of celebrities that wish to impose the green lifestyle is Chef Gordon Ramsay. You may be familiar with his TV restaurant show that mostly consist of scolding and berating those who have signed up for whatever comes. This is fine for TV and can be great fun, but when said celebrity begins calling for laws that affect the real world then it’s time to say, “Wait a minute!”
Gordon Ramsay says British restaurants should be “fined” if they serve fruit and vegetables, which are not in season. He told the BBC that fruit and vegetables should be locally sourced and only on menus when in season. Mr Ramsay said he had already spoken to Prime Minister Gordon Brown about “outlawing” out-of-season produce.
Wishing to set laws and pass out fines are we Mr. Ramsay? Gordon continued by saying, “It would cut carbon emissions, as less food would be imported and lead to improved standards of cooking.”
I can understand wanting to improve cooking standards, but how pretentious of you Mr. Ramsay in wanting to regulate when certain fruits and vegetables can be served depending on how best to reduce carbon emissions.
Perhaps the rest of us think that your London restaurants, which include Petrus, The Savoy Grill and Maze should close because of the high amounts of CO2 they emit. Let’s be honest, you are personally responsible for more CO2 in one day than most of us could manage in a year.
Why not step-up and show us how much you “really” care about global warming. That’s right Gordon, be a stand up guy and close your restaurants. You do that and you will earn the right to preach the evils of carbon emissions and when the rest of us can buy fruits and vegetables.
Yes Mr. Ramsay, short of a financial disaster we know this will never happen. Funny how it’s always the activities of others that need correcting and never those that rant for the green lifestyle.
