The Washington Redskin fans known as the Hogs voice approval at the introduction of the new mascot. One fan was heard to say, “That’s one mean lookin’ grunt… we like it!”

Real Story

Jessie “Shakedown” Jackson was recently caught on camera doing what he does best. With the courage of a politician voting himself a raise and the flick of his overly used tongue, Jackson “whispered” disgust for Barack Hussein Obama. He claimed that Obama was “talking down to black people” and that he wanted to “cut his nuts off.”

Well if anyone would know about talking down to people it would be Jackson. True to form and ever the media hound, Jackson now shuffles from place to place splanin’ his side to anyone that will listen.

“It’s not my fault; the white people tricked me. No, Wait… Slavery! Yeah! That’s it – the ravages of slavery made me do it! Please show your support by sending money to my defense fund and help me remove these chains of oppression! Don’t ever let them make me ride in the back of the bus again!”

“Please hurry, because right now I’m having a little trouble making payments on my mansion in the Caymans. Nothing to worry about, I’ll be OK, but like I say, please hurry. Did I mention that it’s tax-deductible? See – I’m always looking after my people.”

With a courage only the media can display, they refused to play the rest of the video which is apparently much worse that what was aired. If FOX sits on the rest of the story much longer they will have to change their slogan from “We Report – You Decide” to “We Report Only What You Need To Know.”

In any case, thanks for the memories Jessie. Thanks for confirming once again that no matter what, the only difference in what Jackson says and a bag of dog crap – is the bag.

carter55

I just had this horrible flashback from those sullen years that defined the Jimmy Carter presidency. After his monumental and continuous display of presidential failure why oh why take a page from the Carter playbook. Yet, Senator John Warner (R-VA) is considering the return to a national speed limit of 55.

Sen. John Warner asked Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman to look into what speed limit would provide optimum gasoline efficiency given current technology. He said he wants to know if the administration might support efforts in Congress to require a lower speed limit.

Warner cited studies that showed the 55 mph speed limit saved 167,000 barrels of oil a day, or 2 percent of the country’s highway fuel consumption, while avoiding up to 4,000 traffic deaths a year.

“Given the significant increase in the number of vehicles on America’s highway system from 1974 to 2008, one could assume that the amount of fuel that could be conserved today is far greater,” Warner wrote Bodman.

Warner asked the department to determine at what speeds vehicles would be most fuel efficient, how much fuel savings would be achieved, and whether it would be reasonable to assume there would be a reduction in prices at the pump if the speed limit were lowered.

Energy Department spokeswoman Angela Hill said the department will review Warner’s letter but added, “If Congress is serious about addressing gasoline prices, they must take action on expanding domestic oil and natural gas production.”

The department’s Web site says that fuel efficiency decreases rapidly when traveling faster than 60 mph. Every additional 5 mph over that threshold is estimated to cost motorists “essentially an additional 30 cents per gallon in fuel costs,” Warner said in his letter, citing the DOE data.

Conservation is a good thing, so anyone with an ounce of common sense is not against conserving gas. But as a means of national growth it’s a fool’s ploy. Driving 55 will not produce a greater supply of oil, it will not reduce oil imports and it will not affect the climate one way or the other.

The pennies you might save will not only be lost in the frustration of having to drive 55, but the cost of the eventual speeding tickets and the resulting higher insurance rates will more than take away any gas savings you might enjoy.

In case you haven’t noticed, speeding tickets have become quite a cash cow for the state coffers. Highway robbery has been going on for centuries; it’s just now the government is doing it with immunity.

For the same reason there are signs not to feed the bears there should be signs that warn not to encourage the environmentalist. In both cases, it has become painfully clear that if you do they won’t leave you alone.

So what are the jack-booted greenies up to now? It seems that their latest claim to running our life is that your new plasma or LCD TV is responsible for destroying the planet.

Almost half of the televisions sold around the globe so far this year have been plasma or LCD TVs. But this boom could be coming at a huge environmental cost. The gas, widely used in the manufacture of flat screen TVs, is estimated to be 17,000 times as powerful as carbon dioxide. Ironically, NF3 is not covered by the Kyoto protocol as it was only produced in tiny amounts when the treaty was signed in 1997. Levels of this gas in the atmosphere have not been measured, but scientists say it is a concern and are calling for it to be included in any future emissions cutting agreement.

Professor Michael Prather from the University of California has highlighted the issue in an article for the magazine New Scientist. He has told ABC’s The World Today program that output of the gas needs to be measured. “One of my titles for this paper was Going Below Kyoto’s Radar. It’s the kind of gas that’s made in huge amounts,” he said. “Not only is it not in the Kyoto Treaty but you don’t even have to report it. That’s the part that worries me.” He estimates 4,000 tons of NF3 will be produced in 2008 and that number is likely to double next year.

We don’t know what’s emitted, but what they’re producing every year dwarfs these giant coal-fired power plants that are like the biggest in the world,” he said. “And it dwarfs two of the Kyoto gases. So the real question we don’t know is how much is escaping and getting out.”

Let me get this straight – levels of this earth crushing gas, nitrogen trifluoride (NF3), in the atmosphere hasn’t been measured nor do they know how much is escaping into the atmosphere, but the conclusion is that it must be destroying the planet? It’s like watching a faux-Nostradamus make predictions that never come true.

The hoax department of the local Greenies OU812 really dropped the ball on this one and now it’s just embarrassing. At least we now have indisputable proof that environmentalist will do or say anything in their efforts to push the world toward some ill-conceived vision of a socialist utopia.

Yep, this is what happens when you encourage the environmentalist – lies and deceit. Oh don’t worry, they won’t be showing up on your doorstep to retrieve that new plasma TV or LCD computer screen. Their objective is to tax you for the privilege of watching it. If you prefer an euphemism, extortion seems to cover it.

Picture the faces of the Denver Mayor, city officials and onlookers who attended the annual State of the City address as the national anthem touched every ear. Oh wait, did I forget to mention that the national anthem never made an appearance. Instead, “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing” the “black national anthem” was performed as a replacement and an indicator of the shade of things to come.

Now can you picture their faces during this substitute performance?

City Council President Michael Hancock introduced singer Rene Marie to perform the national anthem. When she finished, the audience responded with mild applause. Marie kept her plans to switch songs quiet until the very last moment. She says only she, her husband and a friend knew she was going to sing something other than the “Star-Spangled Banner.”

“When I decided to sing my version, what was going on in my head was: ‘I want to express how I feel about living in the United States, as a black woman, as a black person,’” said Marie.

When asked if he was offended, Mayor Hickenlooper said, “You know I was more confused and I think I was more – what I was, was disappointed and confused and that’s why I wanted to talk to her.”

City Councilman Charlie Brown took to talk radio Tuesday afternoon to criticize the absence of the national anthem at the State of the City proceedings.

“There is no substitute for the national anthem, period,” Brown said. “And that’s what really bothered me. You know when we fly the flag, the American flag, it’s always the highest flag, as it should be. And that didn’t come across today, that didn’t happen today.”

In hindsight, both Brown and Hickenlooper say they should have stopped Marie or began singing themselves.

Marie says if she had the benefit of doing it over, she would sing the same song.

When asked if she would apologize for what happened she said, “No I do not.”

After a steady diet of liberal hate for the country, I gotta ask, “Why is anyone surprised when this happens?” I suppose the bright side to this, if there is one, is the joy of seeing a liberal get poked in the eye by his own sharp stick.

In a time when politicians rarely do the right thing, it’s nice to point out when one finally comes through and takes one for the team.

Gov. Bobby Jindal announced today that he has vetoed the legislative pay raise.

After days of saying he would not reject the unpopular measure, Jindal said this morning that he had changed his mind.

“I thank the people for their voice and their attention,” Jindal said of the public outcry against the raise. “I am going to need your help to move this state forward. … The voters have demanded change. . . . I made a mistake by staying out if it” originally.

Jindal said that legislators “are going to be angry I broke my word to them” by promising to stay out of the pay raise issue. “Let them direct their anger to me and not the people of this state,” Jindal said.

The governor said that although he originally promised to refrain from injecting himself in the issue because a veto may threaten his future legislative programs, he was wrong.

“The bottom line is that allowing this excessive legislative pay raise to become law would so significantly undercut our reform agenda and so significantly diminish the people’s confidence in their own government that I cannot let it become law, so I have vetoed the bill.”

Lawmakers had voted to raise their annual base salary from $16,800 to $37,500. The raise was to go into effect Tuesday.

We hope the people we elect to government will work toward our best interest, but all too often we discover our politicians to be self-servers. Their favorite diversion is to keep us busy fighting with each other along party lines while they quietly increase their personal wealth.

We must consider the halt of this unmerited Louisiana legislative pay raise a victory thanks to the citizens and Bobby Jindal.
