Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) recently submitted final payment to the socialist-Democratic Party by delivering the rights of his soul to the Great Obamanation. In a televised address, the “One” graciously accepted, praised, and then finalized the transaction. The significance of Specter’s treachery is because of the 60 votes and creation of the filibuster proof Senate.
Specter’s decision to seek re-election as a Democrat is a pure political move based on satisfying his lust for power and importance. If he had remained a Republican, he faced a tough challenge for the party’s nomination in the 2010 Senate race from conservative Pat Toomey.
Specter’s announcement sharply criticized Republicans, “I now find my political philosophy more in line with Democrats than Republicans.”
Specter’s political leaning have decidedly moved toward the left as indicated when he joined Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe in supporting the “give more power to government” stimulus package.
All things considered, the Republicans will be a stronger party for the future if Toomey and other conservatives can secure their elections in 2010. Let’s be honest – the Republican Party tried going with the liberal-moderate McCain and he was severely trounced by a socialist community organizer. At least next time let Republicans pick their own candidates instead of letting the media and democrats force one on them.
Goodbye Arlen Specter. I say that now because I have the strange feeling you will be returning home for good in 2010.
