Wisdom from the Realm

News Polls

Whenever possible I try not to take life to seriously. I mean lets face it, the best any of us can hope for is a good 70 to 80 years. After that it’s “wipe my face” or “change my Depends.” Having said that I still find myself wasting precious time watching the TV news channels. And every time I do, I ask… Why?

With 24 hours to fill you are presented with the same news stories and sound bites over and over, not to mention opinion polls. Ahh yes, opinion polls. There should be a warning message in the lower news banner every time a poll result is read. “This news organization has found that it is much easier to conduct opinion polls to reflect how we think it should be rather than to depend on the truth.”

On your quest for wisdom you must remember to always question news organization polls. The questions in a poll are formed to get a desired result which are then reported as news. Do not be fooled by this popular deception.

  1. Howdy,
you have a very grim perspective of future life, eh?
But about polls, yes we should know that they are never to be trusted but sometimes they seem to be a scare tactic to people. It’s like: “Oh no!” Not again. All I can ask is how do you think the average citizen can counteract polls and dig out the hardcore facts therein. What you said about the warning that should be posted with the polls I laughed.

  2. Hi Amy

Grim perspective… well maybe cautiously optimistic.

Brainwashing by the media is still a gentle art. Polls are just a way to sway public opinion usually toward the liberal mindset.
