Arlen Specter and His Lust for Importance

with 9 comments

Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) recently submitted final payment to the socialist-Democratic Party by delivering the rights of his soul to the Great Obamanation. In a televised address, the “One” graciously accepted, praised, and then finalized the transaction. The significance of Specter’s treachery is because of the 60 votes and creation of the filibuster proof Senate.

Specter’s decision to seek re-election as a Democrat is a pure political move based on satisfying his lust for power and importance. If he had remained a Republican, he faced a tough challenge for the party’s nomination in the 2010 Senate race from conservative Pat Toomey.

Specter’s announcement sharply criticized Republicans, “I now find my political philosophy more in line with Democrats than Republicans.”

Specter’s political leaning have decidedly moved toward the left as indicated when he joined Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe in supporting the “give more power to government” stimulus package.

All things considered, the Republicans will be a stronger party for the future if Toomey and other conservatives can secure their elections in 2010. Let’s be honest – the Republican Party tried going with the liberal-moderate McCain and he was severely trounced by a socialist community organizer. At least next time let Republicans pick their own candidates instead of letting the media and democrats force one on them.

Goodbye Arlen Specter. I say that now because I have the strange feeling you will be returning home for good in 2010.

  1. This is great news! Spector is one, if not the largest RINOs in recent memory. The party is actually not mad at all to see him go. Many wish he would have jumped 8 years ago.

  2. We don’t want him.

He is tainted and only wants to join the winners and party of the people for his own selfish interests.

Send him back to the GOP on a horse with his head cut off.

  3. “Arlen Spector says Republicans moving too far to the Right. Switches parties.”

Must have been that massive deficit spending! That was too fiscally conservative for his taste. ROFL!

  4. tarkrid said “…join the winners and party of the people…”

You live in a dream world, don’t you? The democratic party is the party of big government at the cost of the people. The Obama stimulus and bailout scam is not only bankrupting us but the next generation. Wake up an get your head out of that horses butt.

  5. Specter knew he’d lose the Republican primary. So he changed parties and the Democratic establishment has promised to support him in the Democratic primary. And for what? To get a Republican in Democrat’s clothing elected?

The only winner here is Specter… he saved his job, stiffed the Republicans, and conned the Democrats into supporting his re-election bid. And since he’d be the 60th vote for cloture, he can pretty much get anything he wants from the Democrats.

Very clever move, you have to admire his political skills. But as a liberal, I’m not at all impressed that this guy has joined the Democratic party.

  6. I’m glad to see him finally make the switch. He has been like a festering boil on the backside of the Republican Party for some time. Actually I’d like to see several of those old guys take a hike. The job was never meant to be a lifetime appointment. Let them go back and live in the prosperity or mess they create.

  7. Hi Bretal,

One minor correction. President and Leader For Life Obama has not only bankrupted the next generation, but the one after that as well. Assuming we last that long, of course.

  8. Woohoo…listen to the chickensh*t wingnuts cry and moan. Sucks to be you assholes. So tell me…how does it feel to be so wrong so often? To blindly follow a corrupt, mindless group of morons? Ahhhh…the sweet sweet tears of the wingnut. Your plaintive moans fill my heart with joy. Please, please keep doing what you’re doing. Thank you! Douchebags.

    • Yeah, watching the “wingnuts” cry and moan is great sport for some, but in your excitement you have missed to most fun part of all. Although we are on opposite sides of the ship, it is still circling the same drain.

Woohoo… now that’s something to celebrate.
